Shri Subhash Maharaj Gethe-

Shri Subhash Maharaj Gethe was born in Maldon, Sinnar Taluka, Nashik District of Maharashtra to a family of Varkari Sampradaya devotees; his mother, Sau. Janakabai, and their father, Shri Bhimraj Maharaj Gethe has also been devotees of Sri Dnyaneshwar Maharaj since their childhood. He was informally trained and molded in spirituality by his father and late grandfather, Shri Karabhari Baba Gethe. To obtain formal spiritual training while pursuing high school, he stayed at the Haripath Ashram in Trimbakeshwar, Nashik.

Later, Shri Subhash Maharaj Gethe moved to Alandi to complete his junior college education at Shri Jnaneshwar Vidyalaya. He continued his spiritual quest by enrolling at the Varkari Shikshan Santhan where he completed a 4-year course on Varkari Training. Simultaneously, he completed his bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the SP College, Pune.

Subsequently, he completed his master’s degree in philosophy from the University of Pune and also successfully qualified for the National Eligibility Test for lectureship on philosophy. He taught philosophy and logic at the Nowrosjee Wadia College and Abasaheb Garware College for four years.

In addition to this, he also taught at the Sonopant Mamasaheb Adhyasan at the SP College, Pune. In 2005, he joined a two-year Vedant Course at Sandheepany Sadhanalaya of Charimaya Mission in Mumbai under the tutelage of Pujya Swami Tejomayananda, the former worldwide head of the institution.

Subhash Maharaj Gethe has the distinct honor of having delivered a 4-year long daily pravachan series, on behalf of the Jog Maharaj Varkari Shikshan Sansthan, under the guidance of the Pasayadan, that he goes out into society imparting the philosophical values of Jnaneswar Maharaj. His focus is on applying higher teaching in solving all kinds of problems in society, right from workshops at educational and healthcare institutions to discourses and training programs for the corporate sector and professional institutions, under various topics.

Along with his work on Vedanta, Sri Subhash Gethe Maharaj is also working on his doctoral degree from the University of Pune, with a proposed title “A comparative study of the ten Upanishads and the Philosophy of Sant Jnaneshwar Maharaj”.

It is his goal to inspire religious seekers through his book, traditional Varkari Kirtans, and lectures. Towards his goal, he has made several presentations and given discourses at various places in India and plans to extensively engage in spiritual writing in the years to come, across the world. In addition to Subhash Maharaj Gethe’s mother tongue Marathi, he is a scholar and teacher of Sanskrit, Hindi, English, and Yoga.  

Subhash Maharaj Gethe started the Janakai Vedanta Swadhyaya Pratishtan in 2015 with the idea of mass communicating the highest ideals of Jnaneshwar Maharaj by means of a multi-lingual, spiritual and Yoga training center at Alandi. JVSP’s goals are crystal clear – the preservation, fostering and mass communication of the lofty ideals of Jnaneshwar Maharaj for all of humankind.
